Today, 650 enterprises are in the hotel business in Azerbaijan. Their turnover till June 2006 reached $170 million. The deficit at the hotel market (especially that of high-quality three or four-star hotels with a price range of $40—120) results in the construction of new hotels and upgrades of the existing ones.

There are about 5,000 public catering facilities in Baku only, with 3 new A and B class facilities opening every month.

New supermarkets open every year in Azerbaijan. Requirements for quality and design of trade, showcase and refrigerating equipment tend to be stricter.
