Выставка SIB - Entertainment & Event Technology 2010

Выставка SIB - Entertainment & Event Technology

The 22nd Technical Showcase for Light, Audio, Video and System Integration Technology
Дата проведения:
18–20 апреля 2010
Место проведения:

SIB, the only Italian exhibition addressing the entire professional market for lighting, audio, video and system integration technologies, is a not-to-be missed event for entertainment, installation and broadcast industry members. SIB is strengthening its long-lasting leadership for show business members with an expo area that, as well as the companies, will host academies, universities and institutions at national and international level. The convergence of markets and technologies, which brings the entertainment and installation worlds increasingly closer, was the leitmotif of the 2008 edition and continues to be a key feature of the 2010 edition.

In fact, this has resulted in the launch of SIBIntegra, the new logo identifying the section dedicated to professional audio/video and system integration. Alongside the wide representative range of products on show, there will be SIB FORUM, a busy program of seminars and workshops dedicated to the hottest topics in installation and system integration, with the contribution of authoritative Italian and foreign speakers.

SIB is not only a huge comprehensive expo showcase, but also an event at which technology, culture and training are showcased by means of special initiatives (installations, exhibitions, conferences, workshops, round tables, special events), organized in collaboration with trade associations, trade and specialist press, Web sites and training institutes.

In 2008, 21,682 professional visitors were registered at the exhibition and 350 companies participated in the event. The exhibiting area made up 40.000 sq.m. Great success for the participation of Vittorio Storaro, winner of three Oscars, key player at a lesson on Caravaggio and the exhibition Writing with light

“The Scenographer” brought great theatre director and scenographer Hugo De Ana, masters of cinema and digital theatre and Al Jazeera’s production designers to Rimini

Club culture also to the fore – a combination of juvenile dreams & consumer trends

Rimini 9th April 2008 – From Saturday 5th to Tuesday 8th April 2008, Rimini Fiera hosted the 21st Biennial SIB International Exhibition of Show Business, Installation & Broadcast Technology. This key appointment for all trade members is organized by Rimini Fiera with the sponsorship of TEN - Technology & Entertainment Design Network and SILB Italian Association of Dancing & Show Entertainment Enterprises. The expo, which was inaugurated on Saturday 5th April, with the participation of triple Oscar winner for cinematography Vittorio Storaro, closed after being attended by a total of 21,682 visitors, of whom 1,350 were from abroad. There was extraordinary media participation: 383 journalists were accredited in the press room over the four days of the expo, and 48 of them were from abroad.

SIB confirmed its long-lasting leadership in Audio, Lighting and Video technology for Show Business, which (in line with the market’s evolution) is now joined by new directions in the world of Installation and System Integration. Three thematic areas were featured at the expo: SHOW BUSINESS - Lighting, Theatre, Conferences; INSTALLATION TECHNOLOGY - Audio Video, System Integration, Broadcast and SIB SOUND & SHOW - New Products and Services, Trends and Content for New Entertainment. The technology and know-how of show business companies are now applied to numerous new sectors other than entertainment: Retail (shopping centres/malls, shops/outlets and food service venues); Corporate (banks, hotels, spas); Cruising (yachts, cruise liners); Large Projects (airports, theme parks, railway stations); Public Works, Expo/Conference/Cultural sector (conference centres, multi-function centres, museums, theatres) and Digital Signage (InfoTV, Retail TV, POP).

STATEMENTS

Rimini Fiera General Manager Piero Venturelli says, “We are fully satisfied with this 2008 edition of SIB, for which there were some initial doubts and fears regarding trade members’ attendance, due to the sector’s current division. The comprehensive nature of the industry sectors exhibiting and the good international profile of the product on show at SIB 2008 were particularly appreciated. We’re firmly convinced that the Italian trade deserves a single large international expo which, for the tradition and experience built up over 21 years, we candidate ourselves to hold, and intend working to this end right from the coming months, offering a suitable project to bring together all the markets various sectors and players.”

Assunta Fratocchi, Chairperson of TEN and Managing Director of Link, states "My overall opinion is very positive, as far as both the quality of the expo and the numerous good contacts reported by the exhibiting companies were concerned: this proves that the directions taken by SIB for the show’s expansion were the right ones. Positive signs were also given by the qualified participation of young trade members – our trade’s new generation – and the high profile seminars that attracted visitors that don’t normally attend the expo part. SIB therefore has great potential and further roads to be explored.”

SILB chairman Renato Giacchetto adds, “I’m extremely satisfied for the number of visitors attending SIB. But that’s not all. For us, this year’s edition is just a starting point, and for the future we aim at exponential growth. This is why we intend organizing a single expo event in Italy, setting up important agreements in the trade at international level.”

SIB project manager Angela Bellavista comments: “I’d like to stress the high level of satisfaction expressed by the companies taking part, as well as the great professional level of the top grade visitors. The latter appreciated the contents of the events, which were instructive and authoritative. Personally speaking, I’m very pleased with the involvement of the academies of architecture and design, which not only took part in the meetings, but also in the expo part of SIB.”

THE EXPO

Occupying 40,000 square metres, three hundred exhibitors presented a vast comprehensive range of products that ran across the board, addressing many different trade categories: Scenographers, Lighting Designers, Audio Designers, Art Directors, Audio, Audio-Video, Lighting and Full Service rental firms, Entertainment Technicians and Trade Members, Owners of Public venues, DJs, VJs, PR agencies, Installers, System Integrators, Electricians, Architects, Designers and Decorators, Designers of public works, IT Professionals, Technical managers, Engineering and design studios, Organizers of conferences and events, Retailers/Resellers/Agents/Importers of systems and equipment, Construction Firms and Trade Associations. Alongside the three expo zones, there were demo areas, high profile information and updating meetings, exclusive exhibitions and side events.

THE EVENTS

There were exceptional names and important initiatives at SIB, starting with the three-time winner of an Oscar for photography Vittorio Storaro who, as well as opening the show, held the seminar Light and Shade in Caravaggio.

During SIB, form was also given to the all-round overview of contemporary entertainment by International Meetings on Production Design, organized by The Scenographer magazine with Peroni, exploring new frontiers in digital design for theatres, cinema and TV. Among those taking part at Rimini Fiera, famous Argentinean theatre director and scenographer Hugo De Ana, (some of the wonderful costumes he designed for operas were also on show), and the designer of the virtual sets for the colossal theatre production of The Divine Comedy, Paolo Miccichè. Then the creators of the most spectacular award-winning special effects for films, such as Sue Rowe, visual effects supervisor for The Golden Compass (2008 Oscar winner for special effects) and X-Men, and Tino Schaedler, digital set designer per Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Tim Burton and V for Vendetta. Not to mention the head of scenography at Arabian TV broadcaster Al Jazeera, for the presentation of the sat channel dedicated to children.

Outstanding events included meetings on lighting design organized in collaboration with Accademia della Luce, as well as the seminars on safety & security, wireless, digital audio, integrated design, digital signage, domotic (home automation) systems and the new regulations regarding technical installations, the presentation of the 3rd Monitor on the Event Market in Italy by Astra Ricerche for ADC, and the fourth edition of Sound Power, the only international opportunity for pro audio trade members to see on show and hear the most advanced innovative sound reinforcement systems currently on the market actually in action under outdoor working conditions. A lot of attention was attracted by the Peroni area (hall C7), which hosted the International Scenography Meetings, where virtual reality and interactive multimedia were combined in the extraordinary installations by LIMEart, a creative group specializing in live interactive media.

CONFERENCES

One of the conference events that attracted a lot of interest was the meeting Clubs, music, discotheques: what’s their impact on youngsters’ dreams? Does club culture really influence what youngsters buy?, moderated by Pierfrancesco Pacoda, with Fabio De Luca, writer of numerous books on the topic of club culture and contributor to Rolling Stone; Marco Mancassola, author of the book Last Love Parade. Storia della cultura dance, della musica elettronica e dei miei anni; Andrea Girolami, head of QOOB TV, MTV’s interactive channel; Pina De Angelis, consultant for juvenile policies for numerous local authorities; Edoardo Polidori, head of Forlì SERT drug addiction service; Andrea Rosso, creative manager of 55DSL; Deborah de Angelis presented the newly founded A-DJ association, launched to exploit and protect (even legally) DJs’ role on the current Italian legislative scenario; Fabio Facchini of SILB’s Young Entrepreneurs and SILB Vice Chairman Michele Moretti. This was followed by the presentation of the Night Movement Contest, a contest of ideas by the SILB Group of Young Entrepreneurs, to encourage and exploit the perception of night amusement on behalf of young creative talents.

OUTSIDE THE EXPO

The series of “outside the expo” events involving and exploiting the entire town and the area of the surrounding province met with sincere appreciation. Until 4th May, Rimini Museum and the unique suggestive archaeological site of Rimini"s Surgeon’s Domus will host the photographic exhibition STORARO Writing with light. Double impressions between photography and cinematography, inaugurated by the master of cinematography himself on April 5th. On Sunday 6th April on the other hand, Rimini’s Paradiso Club hosted the event I’ll Be Your Friend, organized by the SILB and 2Night with the sponsorship of Rimini Fiera and the participation of all the key players of Italy’s night life. The host club itself was assigned the 2Night Award.

The next appointment with SIB will be October’s SIB FORUM, the second edition of meetings and conferences of an international nature, dedicated to the sector’s professionals and trade members and promoted in collaboration with trade associations and the sector’s major companies.
