The railway industry is in a period of exciting development, to say the least. With railways throughout Europe being privatised, deregulated and opened up to competition, the industry is experiencing great change. This is why there is a real need for a common meetingpoint. In just a few years Nordic Rail has developed into just that, the natural meeting place for everyone within the Nordic railway. Nordic Rail is the forum where all the industry players meet to discuss the present conditions of the sector. This is where company leaders, experts, producers, entrepreneurs, town planners, track managers, buyers and decision makers gather.

Nordic Rail is a trade fair devoted entirely to railways, railway transport and the role of the railway in society. Nordic Rail takes place every other year at Elmia in southern Sweden. Visitors come here to gain an overview of the industry, to meet colleagues, to be inspired in their work, to gather information, to meet new and existing suppliers, to visit seminars and win orders. The last fair attracted app. 4, 000 visitors, all of whom work within the railway industry. This is what makes Nordic Rail what it is: the natural gathering-place for the entire railway industry.

The rate of investment within the railway sector is extremely high. After all, the railway is the mode of transport with the greatest potential for success in the future. No other mode of transport can be extended like the railway without considerable environmental impact, something which is vitally important in today’s and tomorrow’s society. Consequently, each year the sector generates many billions of kronor worth of business, and the foundations for a large part of this are agreed during Nordic Rail. Because this is where contacts are made, and the important decisions are taken.
